Meet our core faculty

Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac is Academic Dean of Bethlehem Bible College in Palestine, director of the Christ at the Checkpoint conference, and pastor of Christmas Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem. He is the author of The Other Side of the Wall: A Palestinian Christian Narrative of Lament and Hope (IVP, 2020) and Christ at the Checkpoint: Blessed are the Peacemakers (2018).

Professor Miroslav Volf is Henry B. Wright Professor of Systematic Theology and Founding Director of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture at the University of Yale. He is the author of Exclusion and Embrace (Abingdon Press, 1996), co-editor of A Common Word, and numerous other texts.

Professor Reggie Williams is Associate Professor of Black Theology at St. Louis University and author of the award-winning Bonhoeffer’s Black Jesus: Harlem Renaissance Theology and an Ethic of Resistance (Baylor University Press, 2015).

Rev. Dr. Jenny McBride is Associate Rector for Formation, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Atlanta. She is President of the International Bonhoeffer Society (English Language) and author of Radical Discipleship: A Liturgical Politics of the Gospel (Fortress Press, 2017) and The Church for the World: A Theology of Public Witness (Oxford University Press, 2011).

Professor David Gushee is Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics and Director of the Center for Theology and Public Life at Mercer University. He is past President of the American Academy of Religion & the Society of Christian Ethics. He has authored numerous books including Defending Democracy against Its Christian Enemies (Eerdmans, 2023).

Dr. Vincent Bacote is Professor of Theology and Director of the Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College. He is the author of The Political Disciple: A Theology of Public Life and The Spirit in Public Theology. His writing has appeared in multiple publications, including Comment Magazine.

Rev. Jim Wallis is a New York Times bestselling author, public theologian, preacher and commentator on ethics and public life. He is the inaugural holder of the Chair in Faith and Justice and the founding Director of the Georgetown University Center on Faith and Justice.

Professor Sunday Bobai Agang is Provost of Jos ECWA Theological Seminary in Nigeria. He edited African Public Theology (HippoBooks, 2020) and is the author of When Evil Strikes: Faith and the Politics of Human Hostility (Pickwick, 2016).

Colton Bernasol is a Mexican and Filipino American PhD student in theology at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. His work has appeared in World Outspoken, The Center for Asian American Christianity, Religious Studies Review, Inheritance Magazine, and Sojourners. Subscribe to his Substack “Provisional” here.

Matthew Vega is an Assistant Professor at the University of San Diego in the Theology and Religious Studies Department. He teaches and writes on religion, race, class, and liberation theology.

David Katibah has spent nearly a decade working with international nonprofits supporting global peacebuilding, currently serving as the Director of Communications and Christian Engagement at The Telos Group, a DC-based multi-faith peacemaking nonprofit focused on unleashing our power to confront injustice and build collective flourishing. He holds dual BAs in Economics and Political Science, graduating with highest distinction from the Honors College of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and has spent time living and working in East Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East. David writes about peace, poetry, and imagination on his substack, “Awakenings,” and serves on the board of Peace Catalyst International, a global Christian peacebuilding organization.
